Perth
The city of Perth is known as the Fair City, and not
without good reason. Perth's centre is awash with attractive
Georgian architecture and is flanked by two large public parks. The
majestic River Tay - Scotland's biggest - runs alongside.
Much of the centre of town is traffic-free, lending the place a
relaxed feel. Add this to Perth's traditional links to farming, and
current status as a financial services hub, and the city has a
prosperous and progressive atmosphere.
Culturally, Perth hits the mark too. Galleries, a theatre and
castles compete for attention. Perth Racecourse is a big local
attraction, as is Scone Palace which is nearby. And on top of that,
the great city of Edinburgh is only an hour's drive to the
south.
