Our apprentices are involved with real projects pretty much as soon as they get here. They learn the ins and outs of our business while earning a proper salary and achieving useful qualifications as they go along. They get to be part of a team of fun, friendly people too. (There’s no Boardroom bickering among our apprentices).

There’ll be plenty to get your teeth into – not least because we want you to feel inspired right from the word go. We’ll start you off on a competitive salary and, as you grow, so will your pay packet. We’ll cover the costs of your professional qualification studies too. And at the end of your apprenticeship, you’ll move into another permanent role with as much ongoing training as you can handle.

Our apprenticeships cover a wide range of areas, right across our business. So whatever you’re interested in, there’s a pretty good chance we’ll have a programme that will suit you down to the ground. Insurance Practitioner, Insurance Professional and Data Analyst are some of our most popular programmes, but we recruit all over the business.
By this point, you’ll have your professional qualification. This won’t be the end of your development though – that’s ongoing. But it is the time to start thinking about what you do next. With the help of your manager and mentor, you’ll start to plan your career goals.
By now, you’ll have built strong relationships within your team and with a network of colleagues across the business. By this point, you could be managing a team, mentoring new joiners or leading programmes that help shape our future. You’ll have some great qualifications under your belt too.
At this stage, you’ll be closer to the strategic side of things. You’ll draw upon everything you’ve learnt to influence decisions about our growth, processes, business lines or people. There’ll always be something new to keep you on your toes as you help to shape Aviva’s future.
We’re a friendly, welcoming bunch. We like people to be themselves. And everyone matters – at every level. So as an apprentice, your ideas will count just as much as those of our most senior leaders. We’re wide open with things like that. Which makes this a very empowering place to start your career.
All of our apprentices get to study for useful qualifications. These range from Level 3 (which is equivalent to A-levels) all the way up to Level 7 (which is equivalent to a Master’s degree). They cover a whole host of specialisms, including accountancy, insurance, data analysis, legal, compliance and leadership.
All of the teaching happens during the working week and you’ll get study leave too so you have time to complete your coursework and prepare for exams. We think it’s important that you can enjoy life outside of work too, rather than having to burn the candle at both ends. The studying doesn’t have to stop when your apprenticeship ends either. Some of our apprentices go on to study for further qualifications like MBAs.
The application process can vary slightly depending on the apprenticeship, but generally speaking you’ll follow most or all of these steps:
Search for an apprenticeship you like the sound of and submit your application.
You might then need to do an online video interview, or you could be invited to come straight in for a final stage interview.
This is where we start to explore how well you’d fit in with our values: Care More, Kill Complexity, Never Rest and Create Legacy.
This will be a face-to-face meeting with one or two of our leaders. For some apprenticeships, you might shadow someone from the team for a short time first. Which is a great way to get more of a feel for what you’d be doing.
Do well, and we’ll make you an offer. If you’re still at school or college, this might be dependent on you achieving the relevant grades for your scheme.
First of all, we’ll need to carry out a number of screening checks. Then we’ll make sure you have everything you need to get your apprenticeship off to a flying start.
Basically, they involve getting a brilliant mix of real-life experiences and gaining professional qualifications (paid for by us). They’re a stepping stone to a fulfilling, long-term career.
There are plenty of them. The ones that immediately spring to mind are the opportunity to achieve nationally-recognised qualifications (with all the costs covered), gain invaluable experience and earn a salary.
As you’d expect, this varies between our apprenticeships. However, what you can be sure of is that studies will take place during the working week. We also provide study leave (on top of annual leave entitlement).
Our apprentices are permanent right from day one. So when the apprenticeship comes to an end, there’s a guaranteed job. Our apprentices also have access to plenty of additional training so they can continue to develop and successfully complete their apprenticeships.
