Fulfil your potential at Aviva

Think you need a degree to get ahead? Think again. If you’re ambitious, keen to learn and eager to move forward quickly, an apprenticeship could be the answer. It could be the perfect opportunity to make an impact in more ways than one.

Our apprentices take on real projects the moment they arrive. They learn the ins and outs of our business while earning a proper salary and achieving proper qualifications. Most of all, they’re part of a friendly, supportive team of like-minded people.

We currently have no open Apprentice roles.

But keep checking back later – new roles are added every day.

Technology apprenticeships

Lead the charge towards a more modern, connected world. Join a Technology Apprenticeship and you’ll be the force pushing us forward and keeping us on our toes. Not to mention you’ll get supported and paid as you work and develop.

Be empowered to contribute, right from the off

Our apprentices aren’t here to make the tea. (Well, not all the time – everyone tends to pitch in.) We’ll give you projects that test you. Inspire you. And hopefully, will keep you with us long into the future. After all, you could be a big part of that future.

What we’re looking for

You’ll enjoy helping others. And you’ll be keen to help yourself too – well, your career – by learning new skills and studying for a professional qualification (with the costs covered by us). But most of all, we’re looking for diverse personalities; for individuals of all ages (our oldest apprentice is 68) and from all backgrounds. Different talents, perspectives and ideas are always welcomed. This is an environment where you really can just be yourself.

What to expect

There’ll be plenty to get your teeth into – not least because we want you to feel inspired right from the word go. We’ll start you off on a competitive salary and, as you grow, so will your pay packet. We’ll cover the costs of your professional qualification studies too. And at the end of your apprenticeship, you’ll move into another permanent role with as much ongoing training as you can handle.

Where can I work as an apprentice?

Our apprenticeships cover a wide range of areas, right across our business. So whatever you’re interested in, there’s a pretty good chance we’ll have a programme that will suit you down to the ground. Insurance Practitioner, Insurance Professional and Data Analyst are some of our most popular programmes, but we recruit all over the business.

Our culture

We’re a friendly, welcoming bunch. We like people to be themselves. And everyone matters – at every level. So as an apprentice, your ideas will count just as much as those of our most senior leaders. We’re wide open with things like that. Which makes this a very empowering place to start your career.

Studying for qualifications

All of our apprentices get to study for useful qualifications. These range from Level 3 (which is equivalent to A-levels) all the way up to Level 7 (which is equivalent to a Master’s degree). They cover a whole host of specialisms, including accountancy, insurance, data analysis, legal, compliance and leadership.

All of the teaching happens during the working week and you’ll get study leave too so you have time to complete your coursework and prepare for exams. We think it’s important that you can enjoy life outside of work too, rather than having to burn the candle at both ends. The studying doesn’t have to stop when your apprenticeship ends either. Some of our apprentices go on to study for further qualifications like MBAs.

Application process

The application process can vary slightly depending on the apprenticeship, but generally speaking you’ll follow most or all of these steps:

Step 1 – Apply online

Search for an apprenticeship you like the sound of and submit your application.

Step 2 – Application review

You might then need to do an online video interview, or you could be invited to come straight in for a final stage interview.

Step 3 – Online video interview

This is where we start to explore how well you’d fit in with our values: Care, Commitment, Community and Confidence.

Step 4 – Final stage interview

This will be a face-to-face meeting with one or two of our leaders. For some apprenticeships, you might shadow someone from the team for a short time first. Which is a great way to get more of a feel for what you’d be doing.

Step 5 – Offer

Do well, and we’ll make you an offer. If you’re still at school or college, this might be dependent on you achieving the relevant grades for your scheme.

Step 6 – Onboarding

First of all, we’ll need to carry out a number of screening checks. Then we’ll make sure you have everything you need to get your apprenticeship off to a flying start.

Additional info

What does an Aviva apprenticeship involve?

Basically, they involve getting a brilliant mix of real-life experiences and gaining professional qualifications (paid for by us). They’re a stepping stone to a fulfilling, long-term career.

What are the advantages of an apprenticeship?

There are plenty of them. The ones that immediately spring to mind are the opportunity to achieve nationally-recognised qualifications (with all the costs covered), gain invaluable experience and earn a salary.

What’s the balance between working and learning?

As you’d expect, this varies between our apprenticeships. However, what you can be sure of is that studies will take place during the working week. We also provide study leave (on top of annual leave entitlement).

What happens at the end of the apprenticeship?

Our apprentices are permanent right from day one. So when the apprenticeship comes to an end, there’s a guaranteed job. Our apprentices also have access to plenty of additional training so they can continue to develop and successfully complete their apprenticeships.
