Forget about work shadowing and making tea – this is your chance to get involved in real projects and see what working life is really like. We help millions of people every day, from protecting the things they care about to helping them plan for the future.
But we’re more than just an insurance company. We care about our people, our communities and the planet. You’ll find a workplace where you can share ideas, try new things, ask questions and be yourself. A place where people support each other and learn together.
Whether you already have a career in mind or you’re just exploring what you’re good at, our work experience programme gives you a real taste of working life, helps you build useful skills, and gives you the confidence to imagine what your future could look like.
You’ll take part in activities that mirror a typical week in our business – from meeting people across different teams to getting stuck into tasks that build confidence and practical skills.
It’s a full, fast paced and rewarding. And lunch is on us – we’ll provide it for you every day of the programme.
Get a taste of real working life
Throughout the week, you’ll explore how we work and take part in workshops covering everything – from wellbeing and cyber security to public speaking, project management and CV writing.
There’s plenty of hands-on experience too – tackling tasks, managing deadlines, and collaborating with fellow students on a team project you’ll deliver together at the end of the week.
You’ll even have the chance to step into the shoes of an interviewer, giving you a unique insight into what employers look for during the recruitment process.
Explore the cutting-edge of technology
You’ll meet people from a wide range of roles and backgrounds, giving you the chance to discover career paths you may not have considered before. Every team works on a project linked to the business area they’re placed with, so you’ll get a genuine insight into what they do.
Build valuable skills for your next step
You’ll grow skills in communication, organisation, problem solving, teamwork and tech. You’ll also learn how to apply for apprenticeships, graduate schemes and internships, so you can feel more confident about your next move.
Here’s what a few of our previous students, and their parents, thought.
“I learned so many different skills on the programme, while having a lot of fun. I liked that it felt like a real work environment. I would definitely do it again.”
Evie, Student, York
“The week was a phenomenal experience that has developed my confidence, creativity and communication skills. All while improving my knowledge of business.”
Aarav, Student, Bristol
“The week was amazing. We had talks from lots of different people and got to work with different apps. The people were amazing too.”
Fraser, Student, Norwich
“My son’s been really keen to get to work every day, telling me how the days have flown by. He’s made new friends, learned a lot, and gained a huge amount from the experience.”
David, Parent
If you’re a student aged 14–16 (in Year 10/S3 or Year 11/S4), this programme is designed for you.
