Is Claims right for you?

Looking for a role where you can make a difference? As a graduate loss adjuster, you’ll be part of a growing in-house team that’s all about problem-solving, using technical know-how and building strong relationships

But most importantly, you’ll be there for our customers when things go wrong – helping them  get back on track quickly and with as little stress as possible. From day one, you’ll be in the thick of it, making a real, positive difference in people’s lives and learning loads along the way.

Salary: £33,200
Duration: Permanent role from day one, with two year development programme
Locations: Birmingham, Bristol, London or Norwich

What you can expect

Loss adjusting is a fast paced and rewarding career where you’ll be helping people through some of life’s toughest moments. At Aviva, we’re growing our in-house team with the ambition of leading the market – so we’re excited to welcome fresh talent from all backgrounds.

If you’re just starting out, this is your chance to bring your ideas, energy and perspective to a role that really matters. You’ll be supporting customers when things go wrong – like fires, floods, or burst pipes – evaluating claims and working as a project manager to help them get back to normal as quickly as possible.

With climate change bringing more extreme weather, we need fresh thinking in how we support our customers and adapt our strategies for the future. Sustainability is a big focus too, so you’ll become an expert in eco-friendly repair methods and restoration techniques.

You’ll also get the chance to work with local authorities and industry bodies on wider issues like flood defences and tackling insurance fraud. Along the way, you’ll build a solid knowledge of insurance and gain professional qualifications with respected organisations like the Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters, Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and the Chartered Insurance Institute, amongst others.

And that’s not all. For two of the three years, you’ll join our supported central development programme designed to help you grow into a well-rounded professional and a future business leader.

Where you’ll be based

Our graduate roles in Claims are based in Birmingham, Bristol, London and Norwich.

Wherever you’re based, the likelihood is you’ll balance time in the office with working from home. We call this Smart Working. Three days in the office and two days from home is typical, but this will vary between teams. When you join us, your leader will take time to discuss this with you, and agree what works best for you, your team, and the business.

Even with our Smart Working approach, it’s important to note you’ll still need to live within commuting distance of your contracted office. That way you’ll get to spend time with your team in person, as well as virtually, and get access to the right internal support networks to help you to succeed.

What you’ll need

You’ll either already have a degree in any subject, or you’ll be graduating by the end of summer 2026. You’ll need to be ready to start work full-time from September 2026.

We’re after great communicators who genuinely care about people. If you’re someone who thrives on building relationships and feels comfortable chatting with all kinds of people, you’ll fit right in. Understanding our customers’ needs is key to giving them the best possible support.

We also love curious minds – people who spot problems and want to fix them. If you enjoy thinking things through, asking the right questions, and coming up with smart, fair solutions – especially when things get tricky – you’ll feel right at home here. We’re looking for team players who want to make a real difference – working together, negotiating with others, and always looking for ways to improve. If that sounds like you, we’d love to see what you can bring to the team.

Aviva cannot provide visa sponsorship for this programme. To apply, you’ll need indefinite right to work in the UK. If this applies to you, we’d love to hear from you.

Show us your spark

During the application process, we’ll want to hear about what you enjoy doing and what you are good at. And it goes without saying you’ll need to feel a connection with our values.

Sounds good? Great. Here’s what you need to do now.

If we can help to make the process smoother for you with any additional support or reasonable adjustments, please just let us know by emailing avivaearlycareers@aviva.com.
