Loss adjusting is an exciting and dynamic path where you’ll be helping people at the most challenging times. At Aviva, we’re building our internal loss adjusting team, with the ambition to lead the market and we’re eager to welcome fresh talent from diverse backgrounds. If you’re just starting out in your career, this is a chance to bring your unique perspective and ideas to a growing field.
As a loss adjuster, your role will be vital – you’ll support customers when they need it most, evaluating claims from various scenarios like fires, floods, or burst pipes. Every claim is different, and you’ll act as a project manager to ensure our customers get back to normal as quickly as possible.
With climate change increasing the frequency of severe weather events, there’s a real need for innovative thinking in how we support our customers and adapt our strategies for the future. And with sustainability high on the agenda, you’ll become an expert in eco-friendly repair methods and restoration techniques.
You’ll also have the chance to work with local authorities and industry bodies on community issues like flood defences and tackling insurance fraud. Along the way, you’ll develop a deep understanding of insurance principles and gain qualifications with professional bodies like the Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters, Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and the Chartered Insurance Institute, amongst others.
And that’s not all. In years one and two, you’ll also benefit from our supported central development programme, giving you everything you need to become a well-rounded professional and a future business leader.
Our graduate roles in Claims are based in Glasgow and Perth. Wherever you are, the likelihood is you’ll balance time in the office with working from home. We call this Smart Working. Three days in the office and two days from home is typical, but this will vary between teams. When you join us, your leader will take time to discuss this with you, and agree what works best for you, your team and the business.
Even with our Smart Working approach, it’s important to note that you’ll still need to live within commuting distance of the relevant office. That way you’ll get to spend time with your team in person, as well as virtually, and have access to the right internal support networks to help you succeed.
You’ll either already have a degree (in any subject) or be on track to graduate by the end of Summer 2025 and be available for full-time work from September 2025.
We’re looking for strong communicators with a genuine customer focus. We believe that understanding our customers’ needs is key to delivering exceptional service. So if you’re someone who thrives on building relationships and feels comfortable engaging with people at all levels, you’ll fit right in.
We also value problem-solvers who are eager to seek out improvements. Whether it’s through critical thinking or negotiating with others, we want individuals who can identify challenges and craft effective solutions. If you’re passionate about making a difference and enjoy working collaboratively to achieve results, we’d love to see how you can contribute to our team.
That’s what we want to see. So, each stage of our application process is designed to bring out the best in you. Below is a step-by-step guide, which you’ll see varies slightly depending on the pathway you choose.
If we can help to make the process smoother for you with any additional support or reasonable adjustments, please let us know by emailing avivaearlycareers@aviva.com.
Designed to augment your role-based training and any qualifications you’re working towards, whichever graduate pathway you choose, during the first two years you’ll complete the Central Development Programme.
