Is Claims right for you?

Serving over 19.5 million customers is what drives us all at Aviva. And our Claims team are firmly behind the wheel. The world of motor claims is ever shifting, but you can be the constant our customers turn to for support they trust. All while keeping things clear and simple.

You’ll be answering questions, solving problems, seeking answers, and providing a friendly, reassuring voice when it’s needed most. Our customers come from every walk of life. And we count businesses among them — from market stall traders to some of the biggest and most successful companies around.

So, if you thrive on building relationships and empathy is your superpower, there’s a lot to love about Aviva.

Salary: £25,100
Duration: Permanent role from day one with two year learning programme.
Locations: Norwich

What you can expect

Expect a permanent role from day one. Our Claims team has a crucial role to play, and every day they make a meaningful difference to people’s lives. We pride ourselves on putting our customers and our people first.

As a Claims Apprentice, you’ll be first to speak to customers when they need to make a claim. It’s your job to gather the important details, like what happened and what state their vehicle is in. This will help you make the right decisions on liability and create bookings with our suppliers, so you can get our customer back on the road as quickly as possible.

You’ll show genuine empathy for each of our customers, working proactively on their claim to make their lives as easy and stress free as possible. You’ll need to juggle multiple tasks, work with our digital systems, and be a calm and confident voice on the end of the phone, making quick decisions to get the right outcome on every claim.

While you work, you’ll study for the Level 3 Insurance Practitioner qualification. The apprenticeship typically takes about fifteen to eighteen months to complete and is designed to give you the skills and knowledge you need to advance your career in insurance. You’ll learn about the industry, including the tricky but necessary world of regulation, as well as key areas such as underwriting and claims. You’ll also learn about all our popular insurance products, including motor, household, healthcare, and commercial insurances. 80% of your time will be spent getting hands-on experience in your day-to-day role, and 20% of your time will be dedicated to your apprenticeship studies.

Better yet, you’ll be part of a supportive team that’s committed to your growth. We believe in nurturing talent and giving you the right tools to succeed. Your colleagues will mentor you at every step, so you’ll be ready for any opportunity that comes your way.

And that’s not all. You’ll also benefit from our two-year central development programme, giving you everything you need to be an all-round professional.

Where you’ll be based

We have Claims Apprentice opportunities in our Norwich office.

After your training and induction period, you’ll probably balance time in the office with working from home. We call this Smart Working. It’s typically three days in the office and two days from home, but this can vary from team to team. When you join us, your leader will discuss this with you, and agree what works best for you, your team and the business.

Even with our Smart Working approach, you’ll still need to live within commuting distance of the office. That way, you’ll get to spend time with your team in person, as well as virtually, and can access our colleague support networks to help you to succeed.
