Technology and change apprenticeship pathway

Shine bright. Find a career that exceeds your expectations

See where your strengths can take you

Is Technology and Change right for you?

Technology drives our business, enabling us to put our customers at the centre of everything we do – whether that’s solving problems or creating innovative new solutions.

If you’re curious and passionate about what tech can do, we have a whole host of apprentice opportunities available. And you don’t need to have studied or worked in technology to join us.

Salary: £25,100
Duration: Permanent role (from day one). Apprenticeship lengths will vary by role – details below
Locations: Bristol, Norwich, York, Perth

What you can expect

Expect a permanent role from day one in a workplace centred around people – you, your colleagues and, of course, our customers. An environment where technology has a big role to play and makes a real and meaningful difference to people’s everyday lives, no matter what level of experience you have.

You’ll be empowered to be yourself. To take control of your own apprenticeship studies, your work and your progression. We want you to shine, and we’ll be right behind you, giving you the responsibility and opportunities to shape your future and that of the industry.

Our apprentices come from all walks of life and age groups. While many join straight from school or college, some are career changers looking for a fresh challenge, or returning to the workplace after a career break. Some also join from other parts of Aviva.

What we offer all our apprentices, is the chance to earn a salary as they learn invaluable new skills and gain professional qualifications. So, wherever you are in your working life, this is a great way to build a fantastic career.

Depending on the programme, our Technology and Change delivery apprenticeships last between 18 months and four years. Our Level 4 Apprenticeships will give you qualifications equivalent to the first year of an undergraduate degree or Higher National Certificate. If you join a Level 5 Apprenticeship, you’ll gain the equivalent of a foundation degree and on our Level 6 Apprenticeships (England) or Graduate Apprenticeship (Scotland) you’ll achieve a Bachelor degree.

Whichever apprenticeship you participate in, you’ll spend 80% of your time learning on the job, gaining real-life experience and 20% dedicated on working towards your Apprenticeship studies. You’ll have a dedicated learning programme including additional professional qualifications.

You’ll be empowered to be yourself, to own your work and your development — but don’t worry. We won’t expect you to be an expert from day one, or even month one. You’ll have a supportive team around you who’ll be there to help you develop, every step of the way.

Technology and Change delivery specialisms

We have lots of different apprentice roles across our Technology and Change delivery teams. For ease, we’ve grouped them into ‘specialisms’. All you need to do is choose the one that best suits your skills, interests and aspirations. You’ll see some of the specialisms have more than one role type available. Your application will be for the whole pathway, but there will be an opportunity for you to tell us if you have a role and/or location preference.

And don’t worry if you’re not sure which role will suit you best. We’ll learn more about you throughout the recruitment process and will assess which role we feel is most aligned to your strengths.

Where you’ll be based

We have Technology and Change delivery apprentice opportunities in our Bristol, Norwich, York and Perth offices. Not all roles are available in every location, so you might need to be flexible about where you work and be willing to relocate if you don’t currently live within commuting distance of the relevant office. You can find out more about each location by clicking the links below.

Wherever you’re based, the likelihood is you’ll balance time in the office with working from home. We call this Smart Working. Typically, it’s three days in the office and two days from home but this can vary between teams. When you join us, your leader will discuss this with you, and agree what works best for you, your team, and the business.

Even with our Smart Working approach, it’s important to note that you’ll still need to live within commuting distance of the relevant office. That way you’ll get to spend time with your team in person, as well as virtually, and have access to the right internal support networks to help you to succeed.

What you’ll need

You’ll need certain qualifications depending on what level of apprenticeship you’re applying for. You can find all the ‘What you’ll need’ details in the job advert for each role, but as a rule of thumb:

To study for a Level 4, Level 5 or Level 6 Apprenticeship in England or a Graduate Apprenticeship in Scotland you’ll:

  • have, or be on track for, at least three A-Levels at grades B, C, C or above (England)
  • OR have, or be on track for, at least 4 Highers at grades B, B, B, C or above (Scotland)
  • OR Level 3 equivalent qualifications.
  • you’ll also need to have at least five GCSEs or Scottish National 5s at A*–C grade or 9–4 (or equivalent), including English and Maths.

You’ll be naturally curious and excited about using innovative technologies to make life better and more rewarding for customers and employees alike. Please see role adverts for more specific details.

In addition to meeting the above criteria, you must:

  • have lived in the UK or European Economic Area (EEA) for at least 3 years by the start of the apprenticeship in September 2025.
  • be eligible to work full-time in the UK for the entire duration of the apprenticeship.

  • be available for full time work from September 2025 when all our apprentice roles start.

Please note this job role isn’t sponsorable under the Home Office points based system.
