If you are in your penultimate year at university, we have some brilliant opportunities to help get some experience under your belt and kick start your career.

Whether you’ve got a summer to spend with us or a whole placement year, we have opportunities to suit. And whichever area of our business you choose to explore, you’ll find yourself working alongside experts, tackling real challenges, and doing work that will make a difference to our customers. After all, they’re at the heart of everything we do.

Every opportunity will add to your academic studies as you build your strengths, knowledge, and skills with hands-on experience and real-world insight. And if you’re not exactly sure what you want your next step to be, that’s OK. These opportunities are about exploring. We actively welcome applications from a variety of disciplines because we want people with different perspectives and experiences.

Our placements provide an excellent introduction to our graduate programmes. So, when you finish you may be offered an invitation to join us in a role after you graduate.

Internships

If you’re in your penultimate year at university, our 10-week summer internships can give you a great insight into how you can ignite your career at Aviva. Make a great impression and you could be offered a graduate role starting in 2025 (after you complete your studies).

Technology & Change Delivery Internships

If you’re passionate about tech and curious about what a career in this area could look like, this internship will give you the perfect insight. And the best thing? You don’t need experience in technology to join us.

Year in Industry Placements

Spend your university placement year with us and gain valuable, real-world work experience to add to your studies. If you’re successful in your placement you could be offered a graduate role starting in 2026 (after you finish your studies).

Technology & Change Delivery Year in Industry Placements

You don’t have to be studying tech to discover what working in this field is like. Spend a year with us to discover the impact you can make challenging the status quo, identifying problems, and using your skills to create innovative solutions.

What you can expect

Whichever placement you choose, you’ll be making an impact from the moment you join us. You’ll begin with a programme induction before meeting your team. From there, you’ll have tremendous scope to gain practical work experience, have your ideas listened to, and your contribution valued.

During your programme, you’ll benefit from:

  • support from a line leader and Buddy
  • the knowledge and experience of a mentor
  • on-the-job training
  • opportunities to network with peers and senior Aviva colleagues
  • lots of ways to learn including via the Aviva University and LinkedIn learning.

Discover our locations

Our placements are based in some of the UK’s most vibrant cities, all of which are great places to live and work. Not all roles are available in every location. So, you may need to be flexible about where you work and willing to temporarily relocate if you don’t live within commuting distance. Details for each programme will list the locations that are available.

At Aviva, we blend working from the office with working from home. We call it smart working. Three days in the office and two days from home each week is a typical example, but that can vary.
