Technology & Change Delivery Year In Industry Placements

We see your spark.

Find a placement that exceeds your expectations.

Technology and Change Delivery. See where your strengths can take you.

We’ve been in business for over 325 years. Two things we’ve learned – never rest on your laurels and always look for ways to innovate and improve.  That’s why tech, data and change drive our business, so we can put our customers at the centre of everything we do.

In Technology, we have a variety of 12-month placements available for students in their penultimate year at university.  Whichever placement you choose, you’ll gain lots of experience and skills. The work you do will be interesting and challenging, and you’ll have the full support of our brilliant technology and change community.

And the great thing is, you don’t need to be a tech expert (or even studying it) to make the most of it. We look for people who are naturally curious and big picture thinkers. People who understand the impact technology can have and are eager to make change happen.

Salary:  £26,500
Duration: Fixed term contract – 12 months – July 2025 – end June 2026
Locations: Bristol, Norwich, York (varies by role type, see individual roles)

What you can expect

Our Year in Industry placements will put you at the heart of our technology and change teams, where you’ll gain invaluable on the job experience. As you grow your skills and experience, there’ll be lots of development opportunities which will give you the foundations you need to succeed.

Expect a workplace centred around people – you, your colleagues and of course, our customers. An environment where technology has a big role to play and makes a real and meaningful difference to our colleagues and our 19.5 million customers.  You’ll be empowered to be yourself, take control of your work and your development. You’ll get practical, hands-on experience that no amount of classroom-based learning could match. Real-world experience that puts the theory into practice and shows the importance of the work you do.

We’re looking to find and develop the technology and change delivery stars of the future, so our placements are designed to feed into our Graduate Programmes. After completing your placement, you might be offered a permanent graduate role starting with us in 2027 (after successful completion of  your course).

A bit about us

We’re the UK’s leading diversified insurer and we help 19.5 million customers in the UK, Ireland, and Canada. Whether it’s for a small bump in the car or saving for a comfortable retirement, our customers rely on us to be there for them when they need us most.

We’re deeply invested in our people, our customers, our society, and the planet. We exist to be with people when it really matters, throughout their lives. We do this by focusing on what matters to them most and helping our customers solve the financial puzzles in their lives. We’re with them in the moment, and we’re thinking about what they need for tomorrow too.

Our values bring to life what it means to work here: commitment, care, community, and confidence.

It means you’ll be joining a culture where you’re trusted to think for yourself. Where you can feel comfortable speaking up. Where you can think creatively to solve problems and make real change. And where everyone works to bring out the best in each other so we can help build a more positive future for our customers and communities.

Technology and Change delivery Year in Industry placements

We’ve got a number of different placements across our Technology teams. For ease, we’ve grouped them into three specialisms so you can choose the specialism that best suits your skills, interests, and aspirations.

And remember, you don’t need previous technology experience or even to have studied tech at university either (you’ll just need some coding experience if applying for Data Engineering). So, when choosing, think about your strengths and the types of tasks you enjoy, and we’ll teach you the rest.

Where you’ll be based

We have Technology and Change Delivery Year In Industry opportunities in our Bristol, Norwich and York offices. Not all roles are available in every location, so you might need to be flexible about where you work and be willing to relocate if you don’t currently live within commuting distance of the relevant office. You can find out more about each location by clicking the links below.

Wherever you’re based, the likelihood is you’ll balance time in the office with working from home. We call this Smart Working. Typically it’s three days in the office and two days from home but this can vary between teams. When you join us, your leader will discuss this with you, and agree what works best for you, your team, and the business.

Even with our Smart Working approach, it’s important to note that you’ll still need to live within commuting distance of the relevant office. That way you’ll get to spend time with your team in person, as well as virtually, and have access to the right internal support networks to help you to succeed.
